Workshop for Teenagers at The Donor Conception NEtwork Conference

The Donor Conception Network asked me back again this year to help create some provision for the teenage attendees of their conference.

Last year, I planned and created a session that involved laying out a large range of creative materials and leading discussions with the young people about all things being donor-conceived. I was supported in the room by a Donor Conception Network team member and a slightly older peer who could engage in the session with them and aid our conversations. It was wonderful to create this safe space where they could all have fun and discuss the issues affecting them along with the joys! They were then free to create a piece of artwork, zine, poster, or collage that reflected and funnelled what they had learnt and heard that day into a creative piece of work.

This year, most of the day’s session was led by another practitioner who is more part of the Donor Conception world and could lead different and more in-depth discussions with the young people. I was then delighted to end the day’s activity with a shorter version of our creative session that gave them space to creatively express their feelings about the day itself and donor conception more broadly. It was a privilege to spend time with these young people again and gain more insight into this world and the wonderful and vital work the Donor Conception Network do.
